Prairie Spirit Tours is delighted to provide you with carefully crafted tours that spark curiosity and ignite a passion for travel and adventure! Meet Marilyn and Jennifer at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas for an exciting and fun experience! Their prior festival experience will provide you with some insider tips to make sure you see and take in all that this incredible quilt show has to offer.                                    

Attend the much-anticipated "Preview Night" to the Quilt show before it opens to the public. Take in four days at the show viewing hundreds of quilts on display and shopping at more than 324 vendor booths offering a wide myriad of products from around the world: fabrics, notions, antiques, books, ribbons, buttons, wearable art, needlework, supplies and more. Attend the inspiring and entertaining Ricky Timms Show and discover the latest and greatest variety of demonstrations at the Friday Sampler (the cost for the events listed above are included).  

Attend classes, lectures, and Quilt show optional day trips whenever your time schedule allows.  You must register with the Quilt Festival itself for these individually, and at your own cost. Take a bit of time off from the Quilt World environment and enjoy the downtown sites via the Hop-on-Hop-off bus.




Jennifer Golden is a multi-award winning, accomplished quilter, instructor and owner of The Golden Needle.  Her long-arm quilting and alterations business is located in Sheridan, Wyoming.  She is a well-seasoned traveler who enjoys each and every journey as well as making new friends along the way. 

This is the 4th Quilt Tour that Marilyn Hovland has planned and directed.  She has coordinated and instructed Elderhostel/Road Scholar programs for over twenty years as well as a Tour Director for Tauck Tours.  As you join her on this trip, reap the benefits of Marilyn’s experience, knowledge, and her  “extra personal touch.”  Her interest in quilts stems from growing up “under the quilting frame” in rural North Dakota.

Day 1:  Wednesday, October 30

Morning departure from gateway airport of choice to Houston, TX

All meet at the hotel in Houston, TX 

Shuttle from airport to hotel - cost included

3:00pm: Check into hotel.

3:30 - 4:30pm: Welcome meal between a lunch and a light dinner.

5:00pm: Sneak Preview Quilt Show  (cost for sneak preview included)

4 nights accommodation: Hilton Hotel (premiere location) adjacent to George Brown Convention Center, Houston-cost included

Quilt Show admission with a sneak preview and general admission for all days included.

Day 2, Thursday, October 31

Deluxe breakfast buffet at the hotel included.

Day 3  Friday, November 1

Light breakfast items included.    

10am - 12 Noon: Friday Sampler

Day 4 Saturday, November 2

Deluxe breakfast buffet at the hotel included.

3:30 - 4:30pm: Farewell gathering w/light dinner included. 

5:30 - 7:00pm: Ricky Timms Concert.

Day 5  Sunday, November 3

Depart hotel via Super Shuttle to the airport, cost included.

Independent flights back to gateway city 

Light breakfast items at hotel or airport included.

Deposit: $200 deposit due at registration.

Final payment: Balance due by September 15, 2019.  If full final payment has not been received by the due date, Prairie Spirit Tours may cancel the reservation without notice. Please see our Terms and Conditions policy for detailed refund information. 

CANCELLATION POLICY:  Any cancellations must be made in writing to Prairie Spirit Tours. Due to the high demand for lodging for this event, please note the cancellation policy for this trip. Regardless of circumstances, cancellations result in a loss of revenue if time does not permit resale of the lost reservation. Therefore, the following cancellation fees apply: 

25% of tour price after October 1, 2019; NO refunds seven days or less prior to departure. In the event that Prairie Spirit Tours has to cancel the tour, all payments received will be refunded within ten business days.
